PACQUIAO WARNS PINOYS AGAINST VOTING A THIEF AS NEXT PRESIDENT

By ROGER M. BALANZA

Kahit magnakaw pa sila ng magnakaw wala silang pananagutan

Presidential aspirant Senator Manny Pacquiao said Filipinos should not vote to Malacanang thieves who avoid public debates to hide their true character.

“Nakakatakot yang mga ganyang kandidato sa ating republika. Pag na-elect na sila, kahit magnakaw pa sila ng magnakaw wala silang pananagutan dahil ibinoto sila ng tao,” said Pacquiao, one of ten presidential candidate s running in the May 9 polls.

Although he did not name names. Pacquiao was clearly refering to former Senator Bongbong Marcos, who is leading in pre-poll surveys for presidential preference.

Bongbong is the son of thel ate dictator president Ferdinand Marcos, whose martial rule was marked by massive corruption and human rights violations.

Bongbong has skipped major presidential debates including those organized by CNN Philippines, GMA7 and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas (KBP).

He is also evading a bebate set today sponsored by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), accordingly due to “conflict in schedule,” the perennial alibi advanced by his camp in explaining his absence in past debates.

According to Pacquiao, who attended all debates he was invited to, presidential aspirants must attend face-to-face debates for voters to know their character as leaders and their program of governance.

PACQUIAO SLAMS BONGBONG FOR SHUNNING PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATES’ DEBATES

“You cannot promise to unite the nation if you cannot even have the guts to face your foes like a man.”

Presidential aspirant Senator Manny Pacquiao dished out this verbal missile at fellow candidate former senator Bongbong Marcos who has been skipping presidential debates or forums.

So far, the son of the late dictator President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was a no-show in two major events: The Jessica Soho Presidential Candidates’ Interview on GMA 7 and the forum organized by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkasters ng Pilipinas (KBP). Bongbong also announced he was not attending a CNN interview with other candidates set later this month.

Pacquiao warned voters against candidates who refuse to face their rivals and avoid public scrutiny because ” they are either incompetent or have too many skeletons in the closet.”

The boxing idol, who has attended all the debates held so far, said attending face-to-face debates is a very important responsibility for anyone seeking the highest and most powerful position in the country.

2022 ELECTION: Pacquiao: NO TO CORRUPTION

Presidential candidate Senator Manny Pacquiao and running mate House Deputy Speaker Lito Atienza on Tuesday stressed they will show zero tolerance for corruption, and called on erring officials to step down while they have the chance.

Pacquiao reiterated the warning during his proclamation rally at the Oval Stadium in his hometown, General Santos City.

“If I become president of the Philippines, you’ll see. These thieves in the government, whether appointed or elected, big or small, rich, well-known, I will show you how I will drag them to prison,” he said in his speech, which was mostly in Bisaya.

Joining the event via livestream, Atienza also warned of jail time for corrupt officials if he and Pacquiao win in the May elections. The lawmaker was unable to physically attend the rally due to a sprained ankle.
