ARADANAS: DHSUD one with President in boosting disaster response operations
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Tuesday said it will continue to improve the government’s Emergency Shelter Assistance Program (ESAP) for calamity victims.
Assistant Secretary Melissa Aradanas, DHSUD Officer-in-Charge, said the department is determined to push Marcos’ directives as a “prime mover” for the ESAP implementation.As per President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directives, the DHSUD said will strengthen emergency response operations and provide immediate assistance to victims of disasters.
In his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, Marcos said the provision of ESAP for calamity victims should be implemented with “better coordination” between the DHSUD and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). READ MORE

MARAWI CITY – More barangays inside Marawi’s most affected area (MAA) now have full power supply, indicating sustained progress of the massive government-led rehabilitation.
On Wednesday, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairman Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario spearheaded the ceremonial lighting of the five barangays inside MAA, formerly known as “ground zero,” organized by the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Lasureco).
Witnessing the momentous event were TFBM Field Office Manager Assistant Secretary Felix Castro Jr, Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra and Lasureco officials.
“The electrification of the additional barangays right in the center of MAA signifies the success of the government-led rehabilitation,” said Secretary Del Rosario, who also heads the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development.
“This is also solid proof of the government’s commitment in providing assistance to those adversely impacted by the 2017 siege, especially our Maranao brothers and sisters, and help them rebuild their lives,” the housing czar added.
CONVERGENCE FOR HOUSING
After bringing together the national government, local government, and private sector to provide safe, decent, and affordable shelter for Typhoon Sendong survivors, a total of 240 units were formally turned over on May 18, 2022 to the partner-homeowners of Balubal Heights Subdivision Federation, Inc.

Some 240 informal settler families (ISFs) have been relocated to medium-rise resettlement buildings in Cagayan de Oro City.
The turnover rite on Wednesday, May 18, was led by Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario, Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling and Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno.
The resettlement project located inside the five-hectare Balubal Heights Subdivision Federation Inc. in Barangay Balubal is a joint undertaking of DHSUD, SHFC and the Cagayan de Oro City local government.
Apart from residents residing in danger zone and calamity-prone areas, Dell Rosario said the beneficiaries also include residents who survived the wrath of Typhoon Sendong in 2011.
Del Rosario said the beneficiaries can now have a fresh start in “sustainable and affordable homes they can call their own.”
The latest development in the housing sector will serve as “another testament of how the Duterte administration gives importance to its goal of providing decent, sustainable, yet affordable homes to Filipinos, especially to the underprivileged,” he added. READ MORE
