ROBREDO: BONGBONGMARCOS HAS NO RESPECT FOR FILIPINOS

By ROGER M. BALANZA

Presidential aspirant Leni Robredo said presidential debates give voters opportunity to assess the capability of candidates for president and those who shun such forums do not respect the right of Filipinos to be informed.

“Kailangan kaya mong masagot kung ano ‘yung issues laban sa ’yo; hindi ka magtatago. Kaya para sa ’kin, ito ‘yung pagbibigay-halaga at respeto sa taumbayan na maghahalal sa’yo,” Robredo said on Sunday, February 27, at the “The Filipino Votes,” a presidential debate organized by CNN Philippines.

Although she did not name names, Robredo’s blast clearly refered to former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, son of the late dictator president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Bongbong was a no-show in the event, as he also skipped several other previous major debates.

Apart from Robredo, the CNN event was attended by 8 candidates aspiring for president in the May 9 polls, including Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Senator Panfilo Lacson, Senator Manny Pacquiao and labor leader Leody de Guzman.

“Kailangan kaya mong masagot kung ano ‘yung issues laban sa ’yo; hindi ka magtatago. Kaya para sa ’kin, ito ‘yung pagbibigay-halaga at respeto sa taumbayan na maghahalal sa’yo,” Robredo said

For refusing to attend a forum where Filipinos could judge his character and ,ability to lead, Bongbong is a failure in leadership, said Robredo, who is running next to the dictator’s son in recent surveys for presidential preference,

“‘Yung number one ingredient din ng leadership, aside from character, is you show up in the most difficult times. ‘Pag hindi ka mag-show up in the most difficult times, hindi ka lider,” said Robredo.

NO MARCOS-SOTTO, LACSON DUTERTE TANDEMS

Vice presidential candidate and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Saturday dismissed a projected win with presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.  in the May elections.

Lacson, who is running for president under Partido Reporma, similarly dismissed speculations of a tandem with Marcos’ running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, stressing he will stick with Sotto as his running mate all the way.

Sotto maintained he is focused on working with his running mate presidential bet Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.

Hindi ko iniisip yan (I am not thinking of that),” he said during the CNN Philippines Vice Presidential Debates. “In my sphere, we are working on the presidency of Sen. Ping Lacson.”

Sotto said that if elected, he and Lacson will use their combined over 80 years of public service record to address the massive problems facing the country.

“After 30 years, I think, handa ako dito. So ganoon ang aking thinking…wala akong iniisip na kung iba ang mananalo at this point (After 30 years, I think, I am ready for the job. I am not thinking of anyone else who would win),” he said.

Lacson on Sunday said small business owners and informal street vendors may benefit from their flagship Budget Reform Advocacy for Village Empowerment (BRAVE) program should he and Sotto win in the elections.

He gave this assurance after learning that the local government unit (LGU) in Malabon managed to provide financial aid and technical support to carinderia owners as part of its livelihood projects, which, Lacson said, reflects the essence of the BRAVE program.

WALDEN BELLO: SARA DUTERTE, BONGBONG MARCOS ARE “FUCKING COWARDS”

Sara a coward just like Bongbong Marcos is a fucking coward

Mayor Sara Duterte, why are you not here to defend your positions?

Nganong talawan mang ka, Inday (Why are you a coward, Inday)?

Vice presidential candidate Walden Bello hurled these verbal missiles at fellow aspirant no-show Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte on Saturday, February 26, at the first vice presidential debate organized by CNN Philippines.

For skipping the forum, Bello said Sara denied the public the chance to hear her stand on various issues affecting the country.

“We are going to legalize divorce and same sex marriage and we are going to pull the Philippines from the 17th century to the 21st century. Mayor Sara Duterte, why are you not here to defend your positions? Nganong talawan mang ka, Inday(Why are you a coward, Inday)?” said Bello.

“Mayor Duterte is not here to face the people, she is a coward just like Bongbong Marcos is a fucking coward,” said Bello, running mate of labor leader Leody de Guzman.
