A petition was filed on Tuesday, May 18, before the Supreme Court seeking to reverse the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) dismissing the bid to cancel the certificate of candidacy (COC) for the May 2022 election of former senator Ferdinand ‘Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The petitioners also asked the Supreme Court to stop the Senate and House of Representatives from canvassing the votes cast for the son of the late dictator president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. , who is leading the count in the presidential race.
The petitioners — Fr. Christian Buenafe, Fides Lim, Ma. Edeliza Hernandez, Celia Lagman Sevilla, Roland Vibal, and Josephine Lascano — asked the high court to issue a TRO enjoining and restraining the Senate and House of Representatives from canvassing the votes cast for Marcos and proclaiming him as president should he win the May 9 polls.
