DAVAO DEL NORTE: REELECTIONIST MAYOR ERNESTO EVANGELISTA IN SURE WIN; TO BREAK ‘ONE-TERM ONLY JINX’ IN SANTO TOMAS TOWN MAYORAL RACE

Mayor Ernesto Evangelista is assured of reelection in the May 9 polls due to his strong political will, vision and leadership, his greatest legacy that marked the successful implementation of his administration’s various programs, projects, and services.

Tatay Erning, for transforming Santo Tomas into one of the most peaceful and progressive municipalities in Davao del Norte, is expected, with his victory in the coming election, to break the so-called ‘one-term only jinx’ that hounded with defeat all previous town mayors who sought reelection.

Evangelista’s ride to an easy win is beefed up by strong constituents’ support and the inspiration and support of President Rodrigo Duterte and daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

Prior to the filing of Certificate of Candidacy for the May election, Mayor Sara advised that her regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) should not field a candidate against Mayor Evangelista (Reporma).

The advise apparently is rooted on Mayor Sara’s long-time friendship with Santo Tomas municipal administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapina, daughter of Mayor Evangelista.

Before taking the Santo Tomas administrator’s post, Elisa worked with Mayor Sara’s legal office at the Davao City Hall.

She was also appointed as Action Officer of PEACE 911, an anti-insurgency project of Mayor Sara that freed Davao City’s mountain district of Paquibato from the long years of control and influence by the New People’s Army (NPA).

Mayor Sara’s order was dismissed by Rep. Alan Dujali. the HNP lead man in the 2nd District, who fielded a candidate against Mayor Evangelista .

The Evangelista reelection bid however is unruffled by the weak challenge of the neophyte riival fielded by Dujali despite Mayor Sara’s advise.

Inspection Report on illegal quarry operations

Inspection Report on the quarry area of Mr. Josue Agayan Jr. located in Barangay New Visayas, Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte as inspected by the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office dated December 17, 2021 where it found out that a gravel operator is operating “illegally” beyond the approved sketch map and such operation in the said area does not have a permit from Mines and Geo-sciences Bureau XI and PENRO Davao del Norte.

The quarry site is under Mr. Josue Agayan Jr.’s name, a quarry permittee, based on the records available from the Santo Tomas LGU.

However, it was learned that documents relative to the sand and gravel operations in Barangay New Visayas were processed by a certain Dennis Agayan, a staff of Davao del Norte 2nd District Congressman Alan Dujali.

Santo Tomas Mayor Ernesto Evangelista has earlier asked the Sangguniang Bayan of Santo Tomas to conduct a legislative inquiry to shed light on the issue and to ferret out the truth.READ MORE

DAVAO DEL NORTE: IGACOS CITY MAYOR UY JOINS INDAY SARA’S HNP; BACKS CATALAN FOR GOVERNOR

Igacos City Mayor Al David Uy has joined the Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP) in a big boost to the bid of Davao del Norte Provincial Board member Roy Catalan to capture the Provincial Capitol in the May 9 elections.

The switch of Uy (PDP-Laban) to the HNP of vice presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and endorsement of Catalan, was expected to hammer a fatal blow on the reelection of Governor Edwin Jubahib (Partido Reporma).

Also to benefit from Uy’s jump to HNP is Davao del Norte Second District Rep. Alan Dujali, who is seeking a second term under the HNP, a major player in the UniTeam tandem of presidential aspirant former senator Bongbong Marcos with Sara Duterte as vice president. PDP-Labanhas endorsed theBongbong-Sara team.

The switch of the top official of the vote-rich tourist island Igacos (Island Garden City of Samal) comes days after Reporma president former House Speaker Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez (First District, Davao del Norte) and Reporma secretary general Jubahib dumped Reporma standard bearer Senator Panfilo Lacson and switched suport to independent presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo, who is running second in pre-poll surveys to Bongbong Marcos. Alvarez and Jubahib reportedly dumped Lacson for failing to shell out P800 miilion in campaign funds demanded by the former House Speaker.

DAVAO DEL NORTE: SANTO TOMAS TOWN DEMANDS APOLOGY FROM REP. ALAN DUJALI FOR UNLEASHING “ATTACK DOG” VS. MAYOR ERNESTO EVANGELISTA

The Municipality of Santo Tomas has demanded an apology from Davao del Norte Second District Congressman Alan Dujali for unleashing attack dogs to discredit and malign Mayor Ernesto Evangelista and his administration.

This developed as the town condemned in the strongest terms the remark made by a Miss Royce Kamille Salen, a Manila-based congressional staff of Davao del Norte 2nd District Congressman Alan Dujali who tagged Santo Tomas Mayor Ernesto Evangelista as “Mayor na credit grabber” in a post on Facebook.

The Santo Tomas town in a statement decribed Salen;s post as “a knee-jerk reaction” to the Press Release issued by the Santo Tomas LGU on the legislative development of Barangay Tulalian’s intent to become a distinct and independent barangay of the Municipality of Santo Tomas.

Santo Tomas also demanded that Dujali discipline his personnel who have the obsession to peddle lies and deceits in the run up of the 2022 May election including those who become his incognito partisan operatives here in Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte.

“Salen’s statement alone reeks of privilege and it is what it is—a government employee; paid by the people’s money but has the gall and the audacity to spew lies and instigate a smear campaign against a sitting Local Chief Executive,’ it said.

“Worse, Salen went on to ask: “Ano’ng ambag mo, tanda?” which we viewed as a distasteful, callous remark in an apparent manifestation of her low regard to a senior citizen, the Santo Tomas town added in the statement. Mayor Evangelista, in his 70s, is seeking reelection in the May 9election.

The Santo Tomas town in the statement explained that:

“Nowhere in our Press Release indicated that Mayor Ernesto Evangelista took solely the credit for such legislative development because he is mindful that it is the principal work of the sitting Congressman which is to file a bill and lobby the same for its passage.”

“In fact, the last three paragraphs of the PR entitled “Evangelista hopeful creation of ‘independent’ Barangay Tulalian by 2022” made mentioned of the legislators from local to national, who we believed, took part and exerted effort for the passage of the proposed legislation, and that includes Davao del Norte 2nd District Congressman Alan Dujali.”

We demand an apology from Dujali’s camp otherwise we will perceive such as as a desperate move for unleashing attack dogs to discredit and malign the Evangelista administration, the town said.

Santo Tomas also dished out an unsolcited advice to Salen: Iimprove your reading and comprehension because Tomasinos will not buy your “tactless” spin of the issue.
