Russia Suspended From UN Human Rights Council For ‘Systematic Abuses’

The UN General Assembly has voted to suspend Russia from the Human Rights Council over reports of “gross and systematic violations and abuses of human rights” by invading Russian troops in Ukraine.

The resolution received 93 votes in favor, 24 against, and 58 abstentions.

The U.S.-initiated resolution adopted by the 193-member General Assembly expressed “grave concern at the ongoing human rights and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.”

The first round of high-stakes peace talks ended Monday with no clear resolution after the Ukrainian president’s office called for an immediate cease-fire and the withdrawal of Russian forces.

Officials from both countries held the “difficult” face-to-face talks at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border as Moscow’s assault entered its fifth day.

They were pictured sitting at a long table surrounded by both the Ukrainian and Russian flags.

“Negotiations are difficult,” according to a top adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Russian side is still extremely biased regarding the Ukranian invasion.

The delegations agreed to continue the discussions in the coming days.

RUSSIAN-UKRAINE CRISIS: Zelenskiy agrees to peace talks as Putin readies nuclear arms

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian military to put nuclear deterence forces on high alert even as four days after Russia invaded Ukraine, delegations from both counctries will meet on Monday at the border between Ukraine and Belarus for peace talks.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Sunday he agreed to hold the peace talks at the border, as thousands of Ukranians fled the country for safer grounds with Russian troops continuing their assault.

Zelenskiy had rejected Moscow’s suggestion to hold the talks in Belarus, which has been used as a staging ground for the Russian invasion.

Putin’s high alert order indicates that he was ready to face any extreme situation to achieve victory in Ukraine.
