Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NORDECO) extends help to the flood victims in the Barangays of Camoning, San Vicente, Napungas, and Pamacaun in the Municipality of Asuncion in Davao del Norte. A total of 535 food packs which includes rice, canned goods and calendars were distributed by our personnel last January 21,2022.

OCTA: COVID-19 trends showing decline

The OCTA Research Group on Monday (Jan. 24) said the growth rate of COVID-19 cases and reproduction number in the National Capital Region (NCR) have declined.

“Actually, -42% noong isang araw pero kahapon ay -50% na. So, bumababa pa talaga ang growth rate at iyong reproduction number ay nasa 1.03 sa Metro Manila,” OCTA member Dr. Guido David said during the Laging Handa public briefing.

“Magandang batayan at hindi lang sa Metro Manila but pati sa Cavite, Bulacan, at Rizal nagsimula na ring bumaba iyong bilang ng kaso… Iyong daily attack rate natin ay nasa 61 na lang per 100,000 [population]. 

 According to David, if this trend continues, there might be less than 1,000 cases come Valentine’s Day.

“Kung mapapanatili natin itong trend, maaaring by Valentine’s [Day] ay baka nasa less than 1,000 cases per day sa Metro Manila.”

Petitioners want 3 Comelec execs out of Marcos case review

Petitioners have asked the officials comprising the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) Second Division to recuse themselves from the Commission en banc’s review of the case seeking to revoke the candidacy of presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

“Other reliefs  just, consistent and equitable under the premises likewise prayers for as: (a) the automatics and mandatory inhibition of the members of the Second Division of the Commission from considering this Motion for Partial Reconsideration and (b) a finding by this Commission En Banc as to the circumstances behind the use of the intemperate and improper language by the Second Division,” the petitioners, led by Fr. Christian Buenafe, said in a 24-page motion for partial reconsideration, filed through their counsel Theodore Te.

The petitioners saidd that the Second Division violated their “right to have their petition adjudicated by an impartial quasi-judicial tribunal.”The Second Division is composed of Presiding Commissioner Socorro Inting and member Commissioners Antonio Kho and Rey Bulay. Read More

PAGASA: LPA OFF MINDANAO NOT LIKELY TO DEVELOP INTO A TYPHOON

iT IS UNLIKELY that the low-pressure area (LPA) that formed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), would develop into a typhoon, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

But the weather bureau said the LPA that enterred PAR this weekend can pose potential flash floods and landslides risk in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao. 

“It’s still unlikely for the LPA to develop into a tropical cyclone,” weather forecaster Chris Perez he said.

Perez said the LPA may move near Mindanao then eventually either dissipate or cross the island. 

According to PAGASA, as of 10 a.m. Monday, the LPA was some 185 kilometers east of Hinatuan municipality in Caraga in Surigao del Sur province.

Former Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia dished out this unsavory description of presidential aspirant ex-senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. as he bared on Twitter his choice for president in the May 2022 polls.

Pernia said he would prefer Senator Panfilo Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso or Vice President Leni Robredo that people should vote lead the country.

In the post on Twitter on January 22, Pernia said d the late dictator’s son has “no saving grace whatsoever.”
