TAGUM-DAVAO-DIGOS RAILWAY PROJECT IS DEAD

China withdraws funding for the 102-km segment of the MINDANAO RAILWAY PROJECT.

The P83-billion project, the first segment of the Mindanao Railway Project, was expected to reduce travel time from Tagum City, Davao del Norte to Digos City, Davao del Sur from 3.5 hours to 1.3 hours.

The loan agreement for the Mindanao Railway Project: Tagum-Davao-Digos (MRP-TDD) segment along with two other railway projects, – Subic-Clark Railway Project; the design-build of the Philippine National Railways (PNR) South Long-Haul Project – are now considered “withdrawn” after the Chinese government failed to act on the funding requests by the Duterte administration, according to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
