Rains and gusty winds will prevail over Eastern Samar, and the Dinagat, Siargao, and Bucas Grande Islands as the low-pressure area (LPA) that has been hovering over the country these past days has developed into a tropical depression.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the center of the tropical depression, given the local name “Agaton”, was last estimated at 120 km. east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
The weather bureau is also monitoring a tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 3 a.m., PAGASA reported a tropical storm, with the international name “Malakas”, last spotted 2,015 km. east of Mindanao, with maximum sustained winds of 74 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It was moving west-northwest at 15 kph. READ MORE
