Perrenial forum-evading former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. continues to skip debates and forums for presidential aspirants in the May 9 electins, this rime running away from an event organized by CNN Philippines.
Nearly all presidential candidates are set to square off during CNN Philippines’ debates from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday, February 27.
Nine presidential candidates have confirmed their attendance as of February 18, CNN Philippines said.
Among the presidential candidates, the following are set to attend the CNN presidential debate on Sunday: Ernesto Abella, Norberto Gonzales, Leody de Guzman, Senator Ping Lacson, Faisal Mangondato, Jose Montemayor Jr., Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Senator Manny Pacquiao, and Vice President Leni Robredo.
Only Ferdinand Marcos Jr., son and namesake of the late dictator, is skipping the event.
CNN will also hold a vice-presidential debate on Saturday (February 26). To attend the event are Walden Bello, Rizalito David, Manny SD Lopez, Willie Ong, Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Carlos Serapio, and Senate President Tito Sotto. Like her standard-bearer,
Davao Mayor Sara Duterte will not attend, while Buhay Representative Lito Atienza, who earlier confirmed his attendance, has “begged off” due to a knee replacement surgery, according to CNN Philippines.
