NORDECO ON VALENTINE’S DAY: YES TO LOVE, NO TO DAVAO LIGHT

VALENTINE’S DAY 2022 WAS A DAY OF TWIN CELEBRATIONS—OF LOVE AND HOPE — FOR EMPLOYEES AND THE MORE THAN 200,000 MEMBERS-CONSUMERS-OWNERS (MCO) OF NORTHERN DAVAO ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE (NORDECO).

As the world celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2022 , Northern Davao Electric Cooperative, joined the celebration as a day of love and a day of hope with a Black Valentine Protest.

According to OIC General Manager Elvera S. Alngog, the Black Valentine Protest was conducted as a way of expressing love for the Electric Cooperative and the Rural Electrification Program.

She added that the Black Valentine Protest also conveyed the massive, continuing protests by Nordeco’s MORE THAN 200,000 MEMBERS-CONSUMERS-OWNERS (MCO) against the hasty passage of House Bill 10554, which granted to the Aboitiz-owned, Davao City-based Davao Light & Power Company parts of Nordeco’s franchise area in Davao del Nore amd Davao de Oro .

The activity started with a holy mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Anthony Jun A. Piguerra, DCT.

In the afternoon, employees attended the Press conference hosted by PHILRECA entitled, “Continuing Challenges and Threats Against Electric Cooperatives and Other Pressing Concerns in the Energy Sector”which was conducted virtually.

The activity was capped by a prayer vigil and candle lighting held at Montevista Office, Davao de Oro, Bibu Grounds, Tagum City Office, Sophia Bldg., Tagum City and Samal Babak Office.
