SENATOR Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, who is running for president in next year’s election, is not backing out of the race to Malacanang in 2022, said Go’s party, the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).
No, Senator Bong Go is not backing out from the presidential race. There is no turning back, said Melvin Matibag, PDP-Laban secretary general on Thursday, November 25.
Go is the choice of President Rodrigo Duterte, PDP-Laban chairman, to succeed him after his term expires in 2022.
Go, a member of the PDP-Laban, told reporters on Nov. 24, 2021, that he is waiting for a sign from God whether to pursue his candidacy after saying he still cannot believe that he is running for the presidency.
Matibag said Go, who filed his candidacy under the political party Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS), was just being honest when he made those statements.
“Alam mo, Senator Bong Go is very honest, pero hindi magwi-withdraw ‘yan (but he not going to withdraw. Matibag said.
Proof of Go’s pressidential bid being alive is his most recent meeting with governors and other local officials, according to Matibag.
As a matter of fact, nag-meeting nga sila sa Malacañang on November 24 at naroon ang mga governors, more than 50 of them, and they are all supporting Senator Bong Go, Matibag said.
