PDP-Laban to endorse Sara
Davao City Mayor Inday Sara to run as standard bearer under a unified Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Paban) and the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP).
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles is not ruling out this scenario if Inday Sara pushes her presidential bid and President Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go drop their plan to run as a tandem for vice president and president, respectively, in the 2022 national elections.
PDP-Laban is the ruling party chaired by President Duterte while the HnP is a Davao Region-based regional party organized by the presidential daughter.
President Duterte accepted PDP-Laban’s endorsement for him to run for vice president in 2022 but was willing to give way to Inday Sara if she runs for the country’s highest elective post.
PDP-Laban could form an alliance with HnP if Duterte and Go decide not to pursue their plans next year, Nograles, PDP-Laban executive vice president, said on Wednesday, August 25, in an interview on CNN Philippines.
There’s always that possibility of an alliance between PDP and another political party or a number of political parties,” Nograles said.
