The National Housing Authority 11 (NHA 11) turned over on August 20, 2021, its latest housing project for the Indigenous People (IP) —100 housing units to the members of the Ata-Manobo tribe in Sitio Mesolong, Barangay Sto. Niño, Talaingod municipality in Davao del Norte.
The housing units in the P200-million Balai Pig Imim’manan or Balay Gipangandoy project, costing P200,000 each on a 22.50-sqm lot, will be given out free to the IPs;
Free housing for the IPs in remote areas is a campaign promise of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Apart from Balai Imim’manan, NHA 11 has also completed two other housing projects for the Indigenous People in Talaingod : Lumad Housing in Sitio Paiton, Barangay Dagohoy with 102 housing units and the Balai Ugpaanan in Sitio Gatong Barangay Palma Gil with 100 housing units.
Four more housing units for IPs are to be constructed in in Talingod: Ang Balai Himulayanan in Sitio Lomondong Barangay Dagohoy, Balai Pamanoykan in Sitio Cuyas, Balai Hirogo-Unan in Sitio Basak Barangay Sto Niño and Balai Hibatanan in Sitio Central Baugan Barangay Palma Gil.
