SANTO TOMAS, Davao del Norte (July 27, 2021)—Mayor Ernesto Evangelista led the distribution of the wage benefits intended for the Tomasino beneficiaries who were enrolled under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) implementation of its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
A total of 323 DOLE-TUPAD beneficiaries from Barangay Magwawa, Esperanza, Kimamon, San Jose, Pantaron, San Miguel, and La Libertad received their wage payout for the service they rendered last March 2021 through the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) headed by Ms. Julie T. Gonzaga, PESO Manager at the Municipal Covered Court here.
According to Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña, each beneficiary is given a reference number that they will present to a money remittance center as they’re entitled to receive P3,960 wage which is an equivalent of their 10-day work service.
“Kini sila ang first batch na makadawat sa ilahang sahod kay mao ni sila ang nauna proseso sa DOLE. Dako atong pasalamat kay nahatag ug nakadawat na ang pipila ka beneficiaries sa maong programa. Tungod sa pandemya, naningkamot kita na makakuha og assistance para sa tanang Tomasinos,” Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said.
The program was made possible through the intervention of 2nd District Davao del Norte Congressman Alan Dujali, who earmarked a number of slots of the DOLE-TUPAD program in Santo Tomas town.
The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) is a community-based assistance program under DOLE which gives emergency employment mainly to the displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers who lost their jobs due to the pandemic.
DOLE has partnered with a local remittance center for easy withdrawal of their wage benefits, according to Lapiña.“Ang sweldo sa mga beneficiary kay gi-arrange na kana sa DOLE na kuhaon sa remittance center.
Lapiña said the Evangelista administration reiterates its commitment to deliver employment programs and services to the needy workers of Santo Tomas.
