TYPHOON ALERT: 2 Low Pressure Areas (LPA) inside Philippine area of responsibility

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced in its early morning bulletin on Sunday, July 4, the presence of two low pressure areas (LPAs) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The first LPA is 780 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, located over the Philippine Sea,moving northwest toward the extreme Northern Luzon-Taiwan area; the second in the vicinity of Southern Luzon as of 8 pm on Saturday, July 3.

PAGASA saod the first LPA could develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours, and would be called Emong, the Philippines’ fifth tropical cyclone this year.

PAGASA said the second LPA is “less likely” to become a tropical depression within 24 hours.
