COTABATO CITY – Officials of the Bangsamoro Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) suspended Friday office work here and in Lanao del Sur due to Tropical Storm Crising.

Minister Abdulraof Macacua, BARMM executive secretary, said the decision aims to ensure the safety of BARMM public servants.

“Offices directly involved in disaster risk reduction and management, peace and security, delivery of basic and health services, and other vital services shall maintain their operations to ensure continuity of public service in the region,” Macacua said in a memorandum released early Friday.

Macacua, also the BARMM environment minister, directed all field personnel under him to monitor water levels of rivers and lakes across the region and to institute evacuation when necessary.

Maguindanao and this city have been experiencing heavy downpours since 5 a.m. Friday as Typhoon Crising moved across Lanao del Sur and parts of North Cotabato.

Cotabato City Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi canceled the operation of all offices at the city hall, except for disaster offices and personnel who are expected to respond to calamities and emergencies.

All disaster response teams remain on full alert, Sayadi said.
