Coast Guard, BFAR scare away Chinese vessels from Philippine territory

THIS IS OURS Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel aboard BRP Cabra monitor Chinese vessels at Sabina Shoal west of Palawan province in this photo taken by the PCG on April 27. The Filipino crew informed the Chinese that they were inside the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone. The Chinese ships left as Cabra approached them.

MANILA, Philippines —

Chinese vessels scampered away from a shoal within the country’s exclusive economic zone (EEZ) onWednesday after being warned by Philippine maritime authorities.

In what is seen as a victory for the Philippine claim of ownership over the West Philippine Sea, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) twice scared away the Chinese from  Sabina Shoal west of Palawan.
