DE LIMA ON DUTERTE’S LATEST BLAST: Have pity on the people, their loved ones are dying

“Mr. President, have pity on the people. Their loved ones are dying and I’m still your problem?”

Detained former Senator Leila de Lima dished out this plea, in a tweet directed at President Rodrigo Duterte written in Filipino on Monday night, as the President said the opposition senator could have helped turn the country into a narco-state.

De Lima has been detained on drug charges since February 2017 at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

Duterte lashed at De Lima, in a pre-recorded video message for his TALK TO THE NATION address, during the meeting on Monday with the Inter- Agency Task Force (IATF) on Covid-19 which was to discuss developments in the government’s battle against the coronavirus pandemic.

In oneof the tweets in a series of messages she fired off, De Lima said Duterte should focus on his job, instead of attacking his political opponents.

“Just work Duterte. If you just focused on working we would not have come to this. Just stop yakking,” she said.

She also blamed the President as responsible for the entry of COVID-19 into the country.

“And don’t be a liar. We all know that it was you who did not want to ban the mainland Chinese from entering the country when the virus was spreading because you’re their lapdog,” she said.
