Compassionate Special Permit
The controversial drug Ivermectin could be used as a prophylaxis in the country’s battle against Covid-19 after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday disclosed that it is eligible for compassionate special permit (CSP)
FDA Director-General Eric Domingo, during ‘Laging Handa’ press briefing, said that the medication — originally used as an anti-parasitic drug — may be reviewed for issuance of CSP as it is considered an investigational drug against the deadly virus.
He said any medical specialist who wants to legally distribute the drug as a prophylaxis and early treatment for Covid-19 may apply for registration in the FDA.
