Leni, if you really want to do away with COVID, let’s spray pesticide over the Philippines or Manila from an airplane so everyone dies, Duterte sarcastically said after Robredo called out lapses in the Duterte government’s response to the coronavirus crisis.
Do not add something to the pandemic by making such reckless statements that we are not doing enough,” Duterte said in his address to the nation on Monday night from Davao City.
In August, Robredo also earned the ire of Duterte after she said that Filipinos were losing confidence in the administration’s battle against Covid-19 because there seems to be no one at the helm of the government’s response efforts.
Robredo said she hsd the right to criticize the Duterte government’s faults in the fight against the virus and make suggestions to address them, in response to Duterte’s blast she was fueling anger of citizens against the government with her baseless accusations..
I have the right to criticize if I need to criticize because that’s what being a Filipino demands. My being Filipino demands that I become part of nation-building, Robredo said.
