Getting a bigger slice of pork barrel funds in the 2021 national budget is behind moves to oust Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.

This was however denied by appropriations committee chairman Rep. Eric Yap as Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Carlos Zarate said that pork barrel funds was behind the rumored coup plot against Cayetano. The rumor to oust the Speaker came as Davao City First District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte said he had instigated a move to replace Cayetano due to complaints by lawmakers over small allocation of funds to their district in the national budget.
