Gierran is a good man. I hope PhilHealth will not be Dante’s ‘Inferno’

Senator Panfilo Lacson has only sympathy for Dante Gierran who has been named by President Rodrigo Duterte to head the beleaguerred Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) whose top executives are embroiled in a P15-billion corruption scandal.
“He is a good man. I hope and I mean it — that PhilHealth will not be Dante’s Inferno,” Lacson said on Twitter on Monday.
“I hope he won’t go through hell in PhilHell, Lacson said.

The Senate is investigating Morales and other top PhilHealth executives over the alleged overpriced IT equipment; questionable release of funds under the corporation’s Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM); and the alleged manipulation of the corporation’s financial records.
The House of Representatives, the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, and a task force created by the President and led by the Department of Justice are also conducting separate probes.
