Davao City Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte has the right to vote in which way he can on the ABS-CBN franchise as a member of the House of Representatives, said presidential spokesman Harry Roque.
A bill giving a new leash in life to the giant television network whose franchise expired in May, is set to be decided by the House Committee on Legislative Franchises.
Presidential son Pulong has made public his opposition to ABS-CBN being granted another 25-year franchise by the House.
At yesterday’s Malacanang virtual presser on government-owned PTV, Roque was asked about reports that Pulong and the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) are behind a lobby to persuade lawmakers against granting the new franchise to ABS-CBN.
Dismissing the report, Roque said the House is a collegial body and Pulong could not possibly muscle the members of the House into voting his way.
