Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte said Dabawenyos should not let their guard down against the deadly Covid-19 even if the city is placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).
Sara dished out the advice on Monday, June 29, as she said that Davao City was ready to shift to a new quarantine status.
Davao City was classified until June 30 by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on Covid-19 as under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
With latest statistics from the Department of Health (DOH) indicating lower infections, Davao City could be declared under MGCQ, which has less rigid health protocols.
On July 1, President Rodrigo Duterte placed Davao City under MGCQ from July 1 to 15.
Under MGCQ’s relaxed restrictions, Sara said she expects more people going out.
She reminded the Dabswemyos to continue, even if the city is placed under MGCQ, to wear face mask, observe physical distancing and to always wash their hands.
There is no room for complacency, regardless of the quarantine status, Sara said in an interview on Monday over the city-government-owned radio station DCDR (Davao City Disaster Radio).
