DAVSUR QUAKE UPDATE: Retrieval operation in collapsed building in Padada terminated
As of 10:00PM (December 17, 2019), the conduct of retrieval operation in the collapsed Southern Trade commercial building in Padada, was terminated.
Padada MDRRMO action officer Engr. Luke Cadoyas said the retrieval was called off because there’s no sign of life anymore based on the life detector, and that there’s no more claimant of any missing person.
The third and last to be retrieved was the dead body of an employee of said commercial building identified as Emily Galyegos Beloy, female, 31, married, and a resident of Mckinley, Sulop, Davao del Sur.
The other two retrieved cadavers were of Elsa Abanador Ababon, 57, married, and a resident of Tomas Claudio, NCO District, Padada and Evangeline Tarongoy Artiaga, 70, married and a resident of Brgy. Tanwalang, Sulop, Davao del Sur.
From the consolidated report of Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office (DSPPO), eight persons were confirmed dead due to the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on December 15, including that of the three bodies retrieved from the collapsed commercial building in Padada.
In Matanao, the victims were identified as Cherbel Chime Makidato Gador, grade 1 pupil, 6 years old, from Brgy Asinan, who was caught by the quake inside their house, and Juliana Donaire Cagas who was already bedridden and reportedly had a heart attack when the earthquake struck.
Fernando B. Balitayo, 63, male, married, farmer and a resident of Purok 3, Udaka, Brgy. Dalawinon in Magsaysay, was reported dead also due to heart attack during the tremor.
In Hagonoy, the fatality was Carlito Ibon, 80 years old and a resident of Balutakay, Hagonoy, was also reported to have died due to heart attack during the occurrence of quake.
Another fatality was Elias Degamon, 60 years old and a resident of Brgy. New Clarin, Bansalan, who died after being hit by falling debris on December 15. (CLC/PIA XI)
