HNP: ALVAREZ AN ‘INCONSEQUENTIAL DOT’ IN DAVNOR MAY ELECTIONS
There is no need for Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte to hit at Davao del Norte First District reelectionist Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, even as the presidential daughter had earlier vowed to personally campaign against the former House Speaker. At this point in time, the discredited former Speaker is an inconsequential dot in the political landscape of Davao del Norte, said the Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP) in a statement.
There is no need for Mayor Inday Sara to waste her time on a candidate that no longer matters in the coming May elections, said HNP in the brief statement. The HNP, a regional political party founded by Inday Sara, issued the statement over misinformation spread by the camp of Alvarez that the HNP founder did not endorse Governor Anthony del Rosario during the April 13 Grand Rally of the HNP in Tagum City, Davao del Norte. Del Rosario, running under the banner of the HNP, is challenging the reelection of Alvarez. The HNP is fielding a full HNP slate in Davao del Norte against the Alvarez-led Alvarez Wing. In her opening speech in the rally, Inday Sara endorsed Gov. del Rosario, Second District reelectionist Rep. Tonyboy Floirendo and Rodney del Rosario for Governor. In the speech, Inday Sara focused on her endorsement of the HNP senatorial candidates. Earlier in July last year, Inday Sara called Alvarez an “asshole” and vowed she would personally campaign against Alvarez for calling her HNP an “opposition party.” Inday Sara also slammed Alvarez for boasting, at the time when he was the sitting Speaker of the House of Representatives, that he had the power to impeach her father President Rodrigo Duterte. It was enough that Inday Sara verbally in public endorsed Gov. del Rosario and his team as candidates of the HNP, said Inday Sara’s party in the statement.
There was no need for Inday Sara to raise the hand of Gov. del Rosario, HNP said. Shr had already done it earlier. With Alvarez and his team fading out days before the election, the HNP in Davao del Norte may no longer need photo ops of Inday Sara raising the hands of HNP candidates, the HNP adds. Twitting the Alvarez camp, the HNP said the HNP is not like Alvarez and his candidates who fake photos of President Duterte endorsing Alvarez Wing candidates.
Earlier this month, Alvarez, his gubernatorial bet virtual unknown Edwin Jubahib and Second District candidate Vice Governor Alan Dujali dogged President Duterte to get his endorsement in PDP/Laban rallies in Luzon and the Visayas. Failing in their several attempts, the Alvarez Wing would issue a photo of President Duterte raising the hands of Jubahib and Dujali. The photo turned out to be a photo-shopped forgery.
