Some 10,000 people were lured to witness the PDP-Laban Grand Proclamation Rally on promise of a few kilos of rice and P500.00 in cash for each, according to radio and newspaper reports in Davao del Norte.
The crowd thinned to about 5,000 by 10PM following talks circulating in the Tagum City Hall Arena where the March 29 event started at around 6PM.
Only about 3,000 people where left at around 11PM when First District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez, who heads the PDP/Laban, took the microphone to speak.
Netizens the following day took to social media to assail PDP/Laban leaders of reneging on their promise of cash and rice for those who attend.
Other reports however say that there was vote buying in the rally, with some people getting the cash and bags of rice.
