The United States (US) is not planning to oust Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, according to US  Ambassador  Sung Kim.

Kim said his country and the Philippines continue to have  a strong bilateral cooperation as reports said a coup against the President is being hatched up by anti-Duterte groups in connivance with communists.

In some reports, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is mentioned as allegedly involved in the plot.

At the 10th U.S. Embassy Seminar for Regional Media on Human Trafficking: Promotion of Children, Women, and Workers on September 14 at Hotel Jen Manila, Kim said  that contrary to reports of a coup, the US continues with its strong coordination with the Duterte administration.

This even as  President Duterte continuously hurl tirades at the US government.

“It really has not affected the cooperation,” he said.
“I can assure you with great confidence and conviction that there is no effort in the US government, anyone including the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to come up with some efforts to undermine President Duterte’s administration,” Kim said.
Kim earlier met with Duterte in Malacañang to discuss defense and economic cooperation. Kim also presented to Duterte reports on his government’s efforts in sustaining the good partnership of both countries.
