Motorcycle-riding gunmen shot dead Thursday night a suspect in the killing of Cebu City hotelier Richard King.
Wilbert Chua, 30, was aboard his parked car on Mabini and Avancena streets in Davao City when peppered with shots from 45 cals by two gunmen on a motorcycle around 8:30PM.
The victim is the son of Helen Sy Chua, a business partner of King who was also a suspect in the killing of King inside his office at the Vital C Building on Lacson Street, Davao City on June 12 last year.
Former Davao Region police intelligence group head Leonardo Felonia has been tagged as mastermind in the killing of King, who owns a string of hotels including Regency Hotel in Davao City.
Shortly after the killing of King, the Chuas submitted statements to the National Bureau of Investigation denying their involvement in the death of the businessman.
Davao cops no leads linking businessman’s murder to Richard King’s killing
Police investigators have not received any leads linking the killing of 33-year-old businessman Wilbur Reagan Jo Chua Thursday night to other killings in the city such as that of Cebu City-based hotelier Richard King.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) information officer Sr. Inspector Milgrace Driz, said police investigators were not ruling out the possibility but as of the moment “we have not yet received any information on the matter”.
“What we are pursuing now is the victim’s alleged involvement on illegal drugs and his grudge with a man who he had slapped and had pointed a gun,” Driz said.
If there were information linking Chua’s killing to other killings, “that we have to dig deeper”, Driz added.
Chua, 33, son of the owner of McDonald’s Bajada Branch, was shot dead at around 8:14 in the evening at the corner of Avanceña and Mabini Streets, Davao City.
A CCTV footage uploaded in the facebook account of the Davao City Public Safety and Security Command Center showed two motorcycles boarded by at least three persons were seen leaving the crime scene.
Driz said a sachet of crystalline substance believed to be shabu, cash and several handguns were found inside his vehicle.
The victim’s mother, Helen Chua, was a business partner of King and she was previously dragged into King’s murder but the police found no evidence linking her to the crime. (PNA)
