The P25 Billion AboitizPower coal-fired power plant in Davao City is now 81 percent complete as of the month of June.
The 300-MW coal plant in Binugao, Toril is constructed by AboitizPower subsidiary Therma South.
Testing and commissioning for two units of the plant — Unit 2 and Unit 1 – is set late this year and early next year, also said Nilo J. Geroche, energy industry management division chief of DOE Mindanao, in a report in SunStar Davao.
Bobby M. Orig, First VP Aboitiz Power Corp., said power plant could be operational by middle of 2015.
Orig said 20 electric cooperatives and distribution utilities are on the line once the power plant goes into operation.
Among them are Davao Light and Power Corp., Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative Inc., and Davao Oriental Electric Cooperative Inc., said Orig.
