More than 20,000 people viewed the array of bright and dazzling colors as tribal dancers paraded in this year’s Indak-indak sa Kadalanan, one of the highlights of the Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2013.
With 23 contingents the street dancing started from San Pedro St., to C.M Recto Avenue,, turned left to Roxas Avenue, then left to C. Bangoy St., to Crooked Road, to San Pedro St.
The contingents performed twice — along C.M. Recto St. and on a stage located on San Pedro St. at the Rizal Park.
A total of 14 Davao-based groups and another nine from the provinces competed in the open
category with artistic interpretations of traditional tribal dances.
For the Davao-based category the winners are:
Champion – Holy Cross College of Calinan Davao
1st runner up — Magallanes Elementary School
2nd runner up — Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Sr. Elementary School Performing Arts Guild
3rd runner up — Sta. Ana National High School Performing Arts Guild
4th runner up — Crossing Bayabas National High School and Loyola Elementary School
Of the nine contingents competing for the open category only five went home victorious.
Winners for the open category are:
Champion: Panay National High School Hamugaway Performing Arts
1st runner up: Tribu sa Lalan from Polomolok, South Cotabato
2nd runner up: Tribu Talaingod
3rd runner up: Lumadnong Dibabawon: Sonlon National High School
4th runner up: Lemsnolon Elementary School – Madal Performing Arts Group
Both champions won a cash prize of P300,000 each. SUNSTARDAVAO
