PLAY WISE MONKEY: Don’t look and listen. Just do your job.
Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte advised his daughter Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to ignore her critics and instead focus her attention on the people of Davao City.
Speaking to reporters after the distribution of relief goods to the victims of the flash flood in Barangay Matina Aplaya on Monday, Duterte said his daughter should give more attention on the residents, especially those who need the concern of the local government.
Duterte said if only her daughter’s detractors understand the content of the Urban Development and Housing Act (UDHA) of 1992, they can answer all the questions that led to the punching incident at Soliman Street, Barangay Monteverde, Agdao District two weeks ago.
“They (detractors) opened their mouths too early too soon without looking into Republic Act 7279 or Urban Development and Housing Act of 1992. They could have looked beyond the punching incident,” he said.
Duterte maintained that none of the mandatory provisions on this policy governing demolition was complied, making the presence and the subsequent action of the sheriff to pursue the demolition illegal.
He cited that 30-day reglementary period needed prior to the implementation of the eviction order, the needed presence of local government officials during the demolition, and the implementation of the eviction under a good weather which was not at all followed.
He also appealed to the media to spare his 95-year-old mother, Nanay Soling Duterte, from making comments on the controversy. He said he does not want her mother to worry. (PNA)
